Bodycount Release Date: 2nd Sept 2011 Format: Xbox 360 and PS3 This first person shooter (developed by Codemasters) is a descendant of the shooter Black (2006). In Bodycount, You can rip-apart almost anything and everything, although not in one foul swoop. Instead, you can shred things piece-by-piece - very satisfying indeed! There is a wonderful amount of freedom in this game, and you're given time to roam and destroy. There's nothing worse than a game that has over-tight missions with no time to explore and have fun. Thankfully, Bodycount isn't one of them. There is much to like about this game. The fact that you can lay mines, the watercolour backgrounds (although these won't be to everyone's taste, of course) and the particle-effects during the explosions. I also like the fact that you are rewarded for accuracy, but at the same time you can create lots of noise by blasting the barrels and crates that are scattered around. Unfortunately, there is also plenty to dislike about this game, too. I would like to say that this is an extravaganza of destruction, in which you'll have a blast. But the game suffers from being too sparse. It simply needs more content and a stronger storyline. It's not a bad game, but, put simply, this isn't a game that will keep you amused for weeks on end. Bodycount would score highly as a budget title, but for a full-price title it simply isn't worth the asking price. Overall score 6/10Bodycount Video Review by Gamespot |
